I generally try to avoid clichés but I feel I must ask the question "where has this year gone"?
Perhaps it is an age thing but it really does seem to have flown by. I think it is fair to say that this year has been one of consolidation in our Order and our Division, following the awful period of Covid which has affected us all in so many different ways.
Sadly, other disruptions have followed, not least the 'cost of living crisis' which we now find ourselves in and as a result of which many people are struggling to make ends meet.
Despite this, I must pay tribute to you all and give heartfelt and sincere thanks for the manner in which you have all responded after the resumption of our meetings. Every Conclave has had at least one candidate during the year, something that we haven't experienced for a good number of years and is testament to the dedication and hard work of everybody in the Division.
Visiting the Conclaves this year has been a real privilege and an uplifting experience and I thank you both personally and on behalf of the Executive for the manner in which you have responded to the challenges thrown our way.
We are a relatively small Order but the dedication and fellowship continually shown is massive and quite humbling in so many ways — long may it continue. It only remains for me to wish you and your loved ones, a happy and peaceful Christmas and a prosperous new year in every way.
Please especially bear in your thoughts, those who have lost loved ones and support them if need be — I am sure that they would be more than grateful for this.
I look forward to resuming our Christian labours in 2023 and being amongst you all as soon as possible
