Presentation to the Intendant-General

The Intendant-General was delighted to receive a £50 cheque for the Grand Sovereign's Care for Children's Fund from the Provincial Prior, R. E. Kt Malcolm Bilton, who was attending the Heneage Preceptory KT meeting in Grantham with the Provincial Team.

The Provincial Prior made the donation on behalf of Ivor Hallam and Mark Driffield who now oversee the 'Lincolnshire pre-loved regalia' enterprise, previously managed by the late Ill. Kt. Mel Barrowcliffe.

End of Suspension of meetings

Please see latest letter in "Messages from the Intendant-General"

I am sad to report the passing of Ill. Kt. Maurice Barry Hazelwood, who died on Monday, 17 May aged 88 years.

Maurice was a member of Tattershall Castle Conclave for 25 years - the last 5 as an Honorary Member. He attained the rank of Past Grand Vice-Chamberlain in 2016.

He was a much loved and well-respected mason and was active in several Orders. Sadly, he resigned many of his memberships a few years ago because of ill health.

He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Report by Divisional Recorder

Given at Divisional Meeting 20 November 2021

Year ending 31 August 2021

Right Illustrious Intendant-General, I have the pleasure of presenting my short annual report for the year ending 31 August 2021.  At the 1 September 2020 the Division had 204 fee paying Knights and 6 Honorary Members, however, during the year to August 2021 there has been no new Knights admitted owing to the Covid pandemic and sadly 5 members have passed away and 4 members have resigned for personal reasons. This leaves a total fee-paying membership of 195 as at the 1 September 2021.

The Division will be rebuilding it’s recruitment campaign in 2022 and recommending strategies which will be shared with all heads of Conclaves in due course.

Owing to the impact of the Covid pandemic there has been no “face to face” visits by the Executive of the Division.  However,  the Executive have attended local Conclave invites to Zoom business meetings and the Intendant-General and the Deputy Intendant General have between them attended 18 Regional District Divisional Zoom meetings. Since the lifting of the pandemic restrictions a further 8 “face to face” invitations have been received from Regional District Divisions of which 5 have been accepted and attended by the Intendant-General and his Deputy. Between them they spend countless hours travelling and covering many miles around the Country.

The Ladies Night which was scheduled in both 2020 and 2021 at the Dower House Hotel, Woodhall Spa, had to be cancelled owing to  the pandemic however, we shall hopefully be more successful in 2022. In the meantime, we had planned an informal Sunday lunch for members and their partners at the Masonic Centre, Lincoln before Christmas but unfortunately, owing to a 10k road race organised unbeknown on the same day and being prohibited from accessing the Centre other than for emergency purposes until mid afternoon, we had to postpone at the last minute until 2022.

The Division will also be organising in September 2022 a Red Cross Church service to honour the Festival of the Holy Cross, followed by afternoon tea.  Further information on this event will be sent out in 2022.

Finally, my thanks must go to the Deputy Intendant General who continues to manage and keep the Red Cross website up to date and newsworthy.  I would also like to record my grateful thanks to the  Recorders of the Conclaves in the Lincolnshire Division for their support and assistance during the past year. It hasn’t been a particular easy journey in terms of Conclave administration or on reporting on the Mark Masons Hall information technology provision owing to imposed time lines, however, we are now as a team at long last, moving forward.
